Can Body recomposition be done when you have a high fat %?

I’m a 23 year old female, I’m currently 145.5 lbs at 5’2 and 34-35% body fat according to my scale, I lift 4-5 times a week. I was wondering if i could get good results eating at either a small deficit or maintenance some days. Has anyone done this? Thank you in advance
