Finger dynamic strength for percussion instrument

I am learning to play the Tabla, which is a type of percussion instrument. The primary notes are played by resting the third and fourth fingers on the drum, while keeping the hand flat. Then raising either the index or middle finger up and striking down on the drum.

To beginners, whose finger striking capabilities are weak, they suggest twisting the hand at the wrist while keeping the fingers relatively stationary, to create a strong sound. However, I would like to quickly rise to the intermediate level by developing my finger strength in the gym.

What exercises should do to build up the muscles involved in this finger motion?
