Is "no spinal rotation under load" still the rule of thumb?

I have seen these rotational lunge swings in various lists of sandbag exercises and thought they looked fun, but they violate the "no spinal rotation under load" rule that was one of my takeaways from reading Stuart McGill's work years ago. Is that still the best rule of thumb for back safety, or has our understanding evolved? I don't always see it strictly followed, for example in these two landmine movements from Brian Alsruhe at 7:20 and 7:37. In the first one, the shoulders and hips stay in alignment, which means no spinal rotation. In the second one, the shoulders rotate more than the hips, which means the spine has to rotate.
