Is Dynamic Tension considered a reliable workout technique?

I recently came across Dynamic Tension when doing some research and I was curious as to what folks in the fitness world have heard about it.

The system is described more as being related to martial arts but it involves controlled tightening of one's muscles while doing controlled movements. The result an increased amount of tension on the muscles. While it doesn't seem like something that would aid muscle growth, it does seem like something that would aid in tightness and targeting specific muscles for tone.

I was just curious if anyone had any experience with it and what you had to say about it?
