Is there such thing as an ecto-mesomorph?

Hi everyone,

I’m a 23M with an unusual body type. I’m 6’ tall, 180lbs, have a fast metabolism, and generally thin frame despite eating a lot. Because of this, I thought I was an ectomorph for a long time.

I stumbled on an article recently describing the body types and ectomorphs are usually described as not just having a thin frame, but also a narrow/straight body structure. Although I have a thin frame, I have very broad shoulders that give me a V shape, despite being generally inactive before the last month or so. Not only that, but I have pretty large hands (although skinny fingers), long arms, and the majority of my height comes from my torso, rather than my legs.

My body type isn’t disproportionate at all per se, I’d say I look more like a thin framed mesomorph than a straight up ectomorph. I get teased for being skinny all the time, but the moment people see me shirtless or in properly fitted clothes, they always point out my surprising V shape.

How should I optimize my training, given that my body seems to be somewhere between ectomorph and mesomorph? I’m still new to being fit, but I’ve been loving it so far, especially during quarantine with at-home work outs.

Thanks for all of your help.
