Expanding my workout routines

I am 5' 8" and weigh around 190lbs. I have started hitting the gym alternate days. All I am doing is 10 mile cycling and 5 mile elliptical. I can do both in 70 mins. I am worried now that doing these for longtime will impact my knees. How can I move out from my comfort zone with out a drastic change? I wanted to loose weight.
