I have recently started using my firearms more

I started dead lifting And by the end of my 5th rep on my 3rd set the bar is slipping out of my hands because my forearms are so dead but I could definitely be doing more reps if I could just hold on... Same goes for hanging leg raises, I can't hang for as long as I van do the leg raises. Is this just weak grip strength?? Also I just joined a new gym with heavier and thicker bars... Does grip strength just come over time as an off side of lifting. I used to have great grip strength from rock climbing but it's been so long.
