Are you supposed to lower squat sets at some point from 5x5? Texas Method

I do squats twice a week. First its 5x5 at 90% RM, then the second time I do them 1x5, but at 101% RM. Ive been slowly losing motivation to do all 5 sets, because its starting to feel really heavy and dangerous (I don't have a power rack with safety thingies). Am I supposed to lower the amount of sets?
