I've finally decided to get fit. I've been going to the gym every day since new year. I usually alternate between upper and lower body, and cardio every day in the form of laps around the gym.
Nothing super intense, just light enough to get in the habit and get over the soreness. So far it's been great, I look forward to going to the gym every day, which didn't happen the last time I tried 10 years ago.
I've been reading the Fitness wiki and I just have a few questions and concerns.
As you can read below, I think I'm just slightly overweight. I have a beer belly that's not too big, but it definitely sticks out on my small-ish frame. I'd like to lose this as soon as possible. I'm back on my Keto-ish diet that helped me lose so much weight the last time.
In terms of overall shape, I don't wanna have big muscles. I wanna be lean with some definition. I'd also like to be a little stronger than I am now.
I started /r/fitness Beginner Routine a couple of days ago. I have a lot of free time on my hand, so I can devote more time / days on this.
Should I just as many of the assistance protocol from 5/3/1 for beginners or should I look into another routine completely?
I'd like to be in decent shape by the summer, at least a tummy as flat as possible.
I'm trying to get down to 140 from 152 so I'm back on the diet. I usually skip breakfast and workout in the afternoon. From what I've read it seems like if you try to cut while working out you won't really gain any muscle mass, but you'll at least keep what you have now.
Is this the best way to go about this? Or should I get down to 140 first and then start working out?
I'd like my shoulders to extend out a little bit more. Is there a specific exercise that I can add to my routine?
I'm sorry you guys probably see a post like this every hour. I don't really have anyone IRL who I can talk to about this. I'd really appreciate any and all help!
