First time trying to really get in shape

I did fitness only a handful of times in why whole life but recently I really want to get in shape. I have a very weak back which causes back-pain very quickly when working out which causes me to never really train my upper body. I hope anyone can give me some tips on how to get started and strengthen my back without making things worse. Also maybe some handy/original tips and tricks to remember exercises and to not skip on them?
